Kerala Police’s anti-drug marathon and torch relay begins from Kasaragod
Kasargod: The state-level marathon and torch relay organized as part of the Kerala Police Athletic Meet 2026 with the slogan ‘Yes to Sports, No to Drugs’ will begin at 7 am on September 5, 2026, at the Kasaragod New Bus Stand premises and will extend from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram till September 8.
Kasargod MP Rajmohan Unnithan officially inaugurated the program at the function. Kallattra Mahin MLA Manjeswaram MLA A.K.M. Ashraf, Uduma MLA Neelakandan, Hosdurg MLA Adv. Govindan Pallikappil, Thrikaripur MLA Sandeep Warrier, Kasaragod District Panchayat President Sabu Abraham, Kasaragod Block Panchayat President Abdullakunji, Kasaragod Municipal Chairperson Shahina Salim, and Kasaragod Deputy Director of Education Rafeeq participated as special guests.
Kasargod ASP Achyut Ashok IPS administered the anti-drug pledge. Then, the anti-drug campaign vehicle ‘Toofan’ was unveiled by Kasaragod District Collector K. Arjun Pandian IAS. RRRF Commandant Shakti Singh Arya IPS received the torch from international kabaddi player Jagadish Kumbala and international football player Mohammed Rafi. The marathon was flagged off by public representatives and special guests.
Then the District Police Chief interacted with NSS, NCC and SPC cadets at the Municipal Conference Hall in Pulikkunni. Kasaragod DySP Dr. V. Balakrishnan led the anti-drug session. Kasaragod District Police Chief P. Nithinraj IPS welcomed and Kasaragod DySP T. Uttamdas expressed the vote of thanks. At 3 pm, a ‘Thoofan Kick’ sports carnival was organized at the Kasaragod DHQ Police Turf with eight teams.
