Dubai’s population rises to 4.58 million
Up 3.32 million from last year
Dubai’s population has risen to 4.58 million, one of the fastest annual increases in the emirate’s history. The increase of 3.32 million people was revealed by authorities as they unveiled an AI-based real-time population monitoring system that will inform urban planning and policy-making.
Despite the 4.58 million resident population, the number of people physically present in the emirate during daytime hours has risen to 6.39 million. This is the total number of workers, tourists, students, shoppers and other short-term visitors. This highlights the huge demand for roads, public transport, utilities, healthcare and other essential services. An average of 1.812 million people are temporarily present. The ‘Dubai Population Now’ initiative, approved by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, is a continuously updated digital system that replaces the traditional census. It enables authorities to track demographic changes in real time and make fast, data-driven decisions.
Digital Dubai announced that the number of residents in the emirate will reach 4.58 million by the end of 2025. This is an increase of approximately 332,000 people compared to the previous year. Representing a growth rate of 7.5 percent. These figures are generated using administrative records, smart government systems and advanced digital technologies rather than traditional census surveys. The initiative provides a more realistic picture of the daily population. Director-General Hamad Obaid Al Mansouri said that Dubai Digital has become a major milestone in Dubai’s ambition to become a global leader in digital government. He said that the project reflects Dubai’s vision to use advanced technologies to build an integrated digital ecosystem powered by reliable real-time data, enabling government institutions to formulate more accurate policies, provide proactive services, improve investment decisions and strengthen the emirate’s readiness for sustainable growth. Younus Al Nasser, Chief Executive Officer of the Dubai Data and Statistics Establishment, said that accurate population figures reflect strong economic momentum and growing international appeal.
