Abu Dhabi ∙ Over a thousand healthcare workers have come together in the capital to celebrate the strength and progress of the UAE in overcoming crises. This 250 square meter flowerbed, set up at Abu Dhabi’s Burjeel Medical City (BMC), has become the main attraction of this year’s Onam celebrations.This wonder was completed after 20 hours of hard work by over a thousand healthcare workers from 35 countries. The main attraction of the flowerbed is the picture of UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, greeting with his hands on his chest. The idea for the flowerbed was conceived under the leadership of Malayali nurses and admin staff at BMC.

The idea for this year’s flower arrangement came from the words of the UAE President, “The UAE is strong and resilient, and the country will emerge stronger after overcoming the crises.” These words, which gave hope and confidence to the entire country, are the theme of the flower arrangement.The UAE’s development journey, which started with the traditional camel journey and has reached the modern Etihad Rail, has been beautifully depicted in the flower arrangement. It conveys the message that the journey from tradition to the future, a better vision and determination are what drive the country forward.The sand pendulum in the courtyard of BMC stands in the middle of this flower arrangement as a symbol of time and continuity. The health workers draw a harmony between Onam, which conveys the message of mutual care and togetherness, and the UAE’s attitude of facing crises with confidence.Our strength lies in leadership and mutual trust, and the flower represents the progress the UAE has made,” said Amira Al Katheri, an Emirati national and Assistant Director of Nursing at Burjeel Medical City. Dr. Mujtaba Ali Khan, CEO of BMC, said the flower is a tribute to the UAE’s spirit of overcoming challenges.Healthcare workers gathered around the flower to celebrate the Thiruvathira and Onam. The main attraction of Onam celebrations in the UAE healthcare sector is the flower arranged at Burjeel Medical City every year on the theme of national importance.
